BASILDON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY - If you would like to enter but are nervous or unsure of anything please do email us so that we can help you. Most of our members are amateurs so it really pays to have a go - and it's not just for the gardeners - there are classes for those happier in the kitchen or holding a camera!
RULES FOR EXHIBITORS AT OUR SHOWS
Please read our schedule carefully
- The Show will be governed by Basildon Horticultural Society Rules, a copy which will be available from the Hon Show Secretary.
- Please note there can be only one exhibitor per class from a garden unless otherwise stated in the Schedule.
- Please bring entries for the Spring show to the Village Hall, UB, on the morning of the show.
- Entry forms for the Summer show can be put in the mailbox at the Village Hall, UB, OR in the box in the foyer of St Stephen’s Church, UB OR brought along with entries on the morning of the show.
- Paid-up members of the Basildon Horticultural Society and Juniors may submit any number of entries without charge. The entry fee for non-members is 50p per class to be paid on the day of the show.
- All exhibits must be staged in the village hall between 9 am and 11 am on the day of the show. Unless otherwise stated all exhibits must be grown by or be the work of the exhibitor.
- All objections to be put in writing and handed to Show Secretary on the day of the Show. No entry to the Hall is allowed after 11am.
- Sections C is open only to Basildon residents or members of Basildon Horticultural Society.
- Nothing in the Rules prevents any entrants in Section C entering in the open classes.
- No article may be entered in sections G,H,I, or J if previously exhibited at one of the Society’s shows.
- Judging will be governed by R.H.S. rules and will commence at 11.00 am.
- No exhibits are to be removed before 4.00 pm.
- The Committee will take ordinary care of the exhibits but cannot be held responsible for damage arising after the show is open to the public.
- Cups and Section Prizes will be presented to the winners at the Prize Giving Ceremony on the day, and to be held for 1 year. Prizes to be presented at 4 pm approximately.
- Cash prizes (children only) will be presented at the prize giving.
- The Imperial sizes given are an approximation of the Metric size, which will be the ruling size.
- For the purpose of this schedule, variety = variety or cultivar.
